I’m Dawn, the proud owner of Benedict’s Catering & Café. I’m a local gal, born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. I attended Coronado High School and graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Music Theatre. After graduating college and getting married, I headed to San Francisco where I began a 20 year career in the cosmetics industry. I spent the last several years of my corporate career as Director of Sales and Marketing.
What does any of this have to do with my current role as an owner of a catering company and cafe? In my corporate job, one key role was to plan business meetings – from casual, with my personal staff, to serious board room meetings with CEOs and VIPS. We also planned and coordinated launch parties for new products, corporate breakfasts, lunches and dinners. These events ran the gamut from small, simple functions to large and elaborate affairs.
My frustration was finding a caterer who knew the outcome I was trying to achieve. You see, food matters: the menu itself, the presentation, the set up and tear down, the overall budget and the timeliness of the execution. Finding a caterer with whom I could develop and nurture a business relationship mattered also. I heard crickets. None to be found.
In 2003, I launched my catering career (which was my secret passion anyway!) and began a relationship with food. I formulated relationships with my corporate contacts and created the events, breakfasts, lunches, and dinners I had always longed for! And it didn’t stop with corporate clientele … I‘ve planned and executed many creative parties and soirees for my residential clients as well.
In February of 2010 Benedict’s Café made its long awaited debut, a charming neighborhood café tucked inside a small, unassuming shopping center. We offer an extensive breakfast and lunch menu in a welcoming French bistro-like atmosphere. In addition, a tasty array of unique pastries, decadent desserts and handmade chocolates are always available to tantalize sweet lovers. The café also serves as a place for catering clients to meet and taste our wares.
To further enhance our offerings to the local community, we are excited about our plans to offer a cooking class schedule soon, for fledgling to seasoned chefs itching to add to their culinary repertoire.
